Urban Decay 'Naked Skin' Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup Foundation No. 11 Swatches and Review

I know I'm a little late to this party, but better late then never, no? I bought the Urban Decay 'Naked Skin' Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup a couple months ago, and it has definitely been in heavy rotation.It's a $40 foundation, so it better be amazing.

As you can see, you get a lot in a single pump. This could coverage your entire face if you wanted it to. But you really have to be careful, since there's only an ounce of product in the package. It'll take me a good while to finish it, since I rotate foundations.

Here's a before and after picture of the foundation, so you can see just how much it covers. It really evens my skin out without looking unnatural. It's not too red or too yellow, which is great for me since I'm a bit of both.

How I Apply

I like to use my good old faithful Real Techniques Expert Face Brush ($9), among others. It's inexpensive and buffs like crazy. Can't get enough.

Observations

This foundation is totally buildable-- the more you add, the more coverage you get. Just as the name suggests, it's totally weightless. I never feel like I have on a face full of makeup. This picture was taken minutes after I applied my foundation. I didn't apply a powder, just so I could see how powerful the foundation was on it's own. The foundation does transfer, but not as much as typical foundations.

Results

The picture below was taken six hours later. As you can see, there is minimal shine, which is pretty impressive for me. Although I have dryer skin, my t-zone gets oily fairly quickly. As you can see, there isn't too much oil there. Very nice.

 Overall, I really like this foundation. There are only a few foundations that I have in constant rotation, and this is one of them. Purchase and try the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup at Ulta, Sephora and Nordstrom.

MAC Matchmaster Foundation: Images, Swatches, Review, Comparison Chart

This range of foundations includes the lightest and darkest shades that MAC has ever made, plus some new shades in between. This is a BIG plus for MAC. When I used to work for them, there were many people I'd have to turn away because there were no shades for them. Please pay attention to the half shades toward the end of the spectrum. This is really great for us brown girls, because they've given us way more options. That's almost 10 shades for us. Very nice.

After I applied the foundation all over, I got a much better feeling about it. While it was still a little yellow, I really like that I had such a fresh look. Normally I'd apply a powder with some red in it (see the Makeup Up For Ever powder that I'm obsessed with) to even out the look, but when I review foundations, I like to see what the product will do for me without using anything else to alter it.

Here's a picture of me wearing Matchmaster foundation in 8.0 at the Oyin Handmade store. The foundation looks very natural (but very shiny--it was very hot that day), even though I did a medium-full coverage. I'm sure a mix of 7.5 and 8.0 would be a great mix. You can see that there was a big difference in my face and chest. I took the picture with natural light and no flash, but it looked as if the foundation had gotten darker throughout the day. I'm trying to take my tan into consideration, Also, my forehead is oil-slick city! This foundation wasn't created specifically for oily skin, and I didn't blot or apply powder throughout the day. I can't really be mad at the situation on my nose and forehead, can I?

Here's what my face looked like six hours after I applied my foundation. Since it's Winter, I don't get craaaazy oily.

Conclusion

I did like the foundation, but I own so many that I adore, so it won't be my go-to. I'd say this is a good everyday foundation, but I don't want to scream while jumping down in excitement over it. It is definitely an awesome concept. This entire post might change if I go to the counter to find my exact shade. If you decide to purchase, I'd definitely say to get matched professionally. Hopefully the above conversion chart will help. If you have a skin tone that's hard to match for foundation, this may be your answer
