MAC Pressed Pigment in Deeply Dashing--Review / by Erin Baynham

MAC Deeply Dashing Pressed Pigment Review

It's rare that I say this, but I don't like this. At all.

I know that MAC likes to put out collections every few weeks, staying ahead of the curve. But MAC Pressed Pigment ($21) isn't a big winner for the everyday makeup winner. If you're doing editorial or something that needs major effects, this could be your ticket. Otherwise, no.

What MAC says: An intensely creamy highlighter offering extreme pearlescence and versatility of finish. Apply dry for a high shine, or on damp skin for a dramatic wet look. Provides eye-catching sheer-to-moderate buildable coverage and natural dimension finish. Pressed Pigment is delicate. Please handle with care.

Hello, Glitter Bomb!

Extreme pearlescence = GLITTERI'm at that point where I don't do glitter at all.  I might do it on a night where I want some intense drama, but I honestly don't see it happening. With that said, this product seems to be mostly fine glitter. Not too much pigment, but definitely glitter. There is no creaminess, whatsoever. I have no idea what they meant by that.

The overlay is really enticing! It makes you think you have to have it! Once swatched however, you get a pretty average brown shadow, still packed with shimmer/glitter/whatever.

MAC Deeply Dashing Pressed Pigment Swatch

It looks SO pretty on the fingers. That's how we tend to get excited about things. But come on, are we wearing it on out finger tips? No. Will we apply the same amount to our lids as we did on the fingers? No.

These images are the closest that I could get to show you why I'm not really that in love.

Maybe another shade will be more enticing, but I'm just not into these. I think there are other better options, like traditional pigments or iridescent powders.
